Are there good reasons, other than cost savings, for bringing partners on a boat. To be sure, money is a perfectly valid and compelling reason to share a boat, but it may not be enough to get most of us over the edge. So, the real question is, if money was of no object, would someone still share their boat?

Just a thought, security would also be a possible reason. I sometimes don't get out to my boat for months at a time and the other day I went out and someone had stolen the little grill I keep in the transom. Having other people on the boat might have created enough traffic out there that whoever stole it might have had second thoughts about digging through my transom. At any rate, this is something I've been considering for quite a while, just trying to find that right partner to get things going.

That is a good thought - some of the boats in our marina have had some problems with this and interestingly, it does seem to be the ones that look like they haven't been out in a while which would make sense as the thief might think the missing item wouldn't be noticed until they were long gone.
